Evaluation Q3

What have you learned from your audience feedback? Target audience The target audience I looked at would be from 16-50, non-specific to gender, ethnicity or social class; This is the demographic of my documentary because of how widely varied it is and how many topics it covers that would interest any age, gender, class or race. I think as my documentary is of crime genre many ages are interested in this, which is why the age range is so wide. I don't think a crime genre documentary would be suitable for someone younger than 16 or older than 50 as I believe it would either be too frightening, uninteresting or wouldn't be able to understand the factual element to it. I don't think my target audience would be the social group who have a disposable income to more likely pay in order to watch it as people can easily watch the documentary for free on catch-up. I think my target audience would have to be interested in psychology (minds of criminals) and the crime system

Preparation for my evaluation Q3

I created a survey to get feedback from my target audience whether anything was missing from the documentary, what was interesting about it etc.. so I can get a better insight and narrow down the key codes of conventions that work well with my demographic. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Preview/?sm=ooVsOllCiFkUvXqIDC3bz_2BguCbKI5APsW_2BwUPUuAOZ136cZ0M9EGUyibbCH1DfcQ Overall this bar graph presents how women and men equally enjoyed the documentaries elements including the mise en scene, sound, characters and editing. I chose to make this study as I wanted to see who felt as though specific conventions worked effectively incorporated in my documentary. Overall, I feel as though my target demographic according to gender to equally halved, which enables me to look at both gender's interests and focus on all conventions in order for it to appeal to all my target audience. I chose to study the percentages of diverse ages that found my documentary interesting to focus and narrow do

Evaluation Q1

This clip from Piers Morgan: Killer Women presents its use of commentary narrative layered with tense music leading up to a dramatic moment. This highlights how the traditional use of sound in crime documentaries does slightly contrast as they lack a mixture of music and sound effects. I challenge traditional conventions of a crime documentary through my use of costume as I decided to use a light grey jumper for the prisoner costume. This differs from the usual costumes of a blue, white or orange jumpsuit commonly seen in popular documentaries e.g. Making Of A Murderer, Interview With A Serial Killer, Who Took Johnny.

Evaluation: Newspaper Advertisement

Evaluation: conventions Background I chose my background to be of prison bars because it clearly indicates to the audience the ideas, themes and genre my documentary is going to be focused around. I think the black and white effect connotes the dark realities of prison and how harsh and shocking the crime system is reflecting the themes presented in my documentary. In addition, I admire how well the background blends with the rest of the advertisement as it contrasts with the bold red title, ITV logo and my main image. Photo I decided to use a extreme close up shot of the prisoner's face from a clip of the documentary because it is zoomed in and focused on the prisoner's intense expression, which draws in the target audience. I increased colour contrast and changed the filter to a black and white effect, which looks effective because as it blends in with the background and imposes fear onto the reader.   Chose of layout I decided to place the m
