Evaluation Q1

This clip from Piers Morgan: Killer Women presents its use of commentary narrative layered with tense music leading up to a dramatic moment. This highlights how the traditional use of sound in crime documentaries does slightly contrast as they lack a mixture of music and sound effects.

I challenge traditional conventions of a crime documentary through my use of costume as I decided to use a light grey jumper for the prisoner costume. This differs from the usual costumes of a blue, white or orange jumpsuit commonly seen in popular documentaries e.g. Making Of A Murderer, Interview With A Serial Killer, Who Took Johnny.

Evaluation: Magazine Listing

Evaluation: medium? How is it original? Background For the background on the first page of my magazine listing I used a photo of graffiti on a wall because I feel as though it links in with the themes of crime, corruption, wrong, rights and restrictions in society. In addition, the colours of the background are neutral tones and not too bold therefore, doesn't affect the visibility of the text for the reader. I think the colours of the background go really well with the text because it is mostly light grey/white with areas of bright colours highlighting the black text. At the bottom of the listing, I created the title 'Secrets Of A Serial Killer' in vibrant red font, which is boldly standing out from the listing as well as not covering the text. I think this adds a creepy and menacing element to the listing linking to my theme. Main image  I chose a picture of the prisoner I'm using in the documentary because I feel as though it captures the priso...

Film poster analysis

Anchorage- words that accompany the picture e.g. 'The past never dies it kills' I think the anchorage is used as one of the main focus points of the poster because of the crisp white italics harshly contrasting against the faded black background. The colour tone and contrasting immediately catch the audiences eye. In addition, the short and snappy anchorage has a underlying dark message personifying the past which makes it interesting so, draws in the audience in. Preferred reading-   When audiences respond to the product the way media producers want/expect them to:   I feel that the audience responds to the poster with a burst of adrenaline and terror due to the graphic and eye- catching image which is the producers aim. In addition, when I first saw the poster I felt on edge and shocked at how realistic the image is. I think the producers aim for the audience to feel extremely on edge to convey the full effect of demonic possession and all the other underlyin...
