Location Reece

Requirements of lighting- When filming at school I need natural lighting, unless if it gets dark I will use the artificial main lighting. When shooting at Bedford prison, I need natural lighting that is cloudy and grey to match the cold dingy location.
Clearance for shooting- Before filming in the school canteen, I will speak to the staff that work there asking if I can film in there? what 2 days if possible I am allowed?, if it is possible for them to keep the canteen open for an hour after school a couple of days in my shooting week? and what days the canteen will be free from all staff?
Before filming at Bedford prison, I will ask the staff if I am allowed to film there.
I do not need any power as the equipment I am using does not need power available.

The problems I may face is if I am not allowed to film at Bedford prison because that is the most local and convenient prison I am near. Although I can research other prisons reasonably close to me that allow filming. Also, another problem I may face is if it gets to dark while filming at either of my locations as it will prolong filming schedule, the cast may not be available other times and I will have to ask further permission for more time to film at my locations. I will resolve this problem by preparing in advance, I will ask the cast beforehand what times and days they are free and if they can do overtime in case the shooting goes over scheduled time. Furthermore, in advance I will ask both of my location whether I can film there multiple times for an unlimited or limited amount of time in case filming goes over. With the school staff, I will ask if they may be able to book the canteen out prolonging the closing time for additional hours or days.

The equipment I am using is a camera, tripod and I may use a microphone; these will all be equipped by school and I will be bringing the camera outside the school premises to shoot the prison shots. Beforehand, I will ask how to use all my equipment in case when I am filming I come across a difficulty in the equipment so, I will know how to work it out efficiently.

These pictures are of my prison location shots:

  1. Very detailed Tillie. It may be worth scanning your sheet in which you can do in reprographics at the front of school. Try to also add more visual elements. Take some videos/ short videos of your locations to add alongside here.

My Documentary

Evaluation: Magazine Listing

Evaluation: medium? How is it original? Background For the background on the first page of my magazine listing I used a photo of graffiti on a wall because I feel as though it links in with the themes of crime, corruption, wrong, rights and restrictions in society. In addition, the colours of the background are neutral tones and not too bold therefore, doesn't affect the visibility of the text for the reader. I think the colours of the background go really well with the text because it is mostly light grey/white with areas of bright colours highlighting the black text. At the bottom of the listing, I created the title 'Secrets Of A Serial Killer' in vibrant red font, which is boldly standing out from the listing as well as not covering the text. I think this adds a creepy and menacing element to the listing linking to my theme. Main image  I chose a picture of the prisoner I'm using in the documentary because I feel as though it captures the priso...

Amy Winehouse documentary: 5 shot analysis

This is a medium close up shot and a wide angle view capturing her substantial fan base on a worldwide level. The narrator is talking about how she tries to disappear from her life which could imply through her substance addiction and abuse which correlates with the shot as it shows her drinking. Amy looks slightly disoriented/dazed which matches the narration perfectly mediating her in a very negative light. In this shot, the lighting is very dark and dull which is unusual because when she is performing the lighting should be bright and vibrant. The mise en scene is the crowds of people in the background which highlights Amy's pure popularity through her talent. I feel as though Amy is the focus in this shot as the dark lighting makes her boldly stand out against the crowd. The shot slowly fades out as the background soundtrack of Amy quietens and fades which is very effective as it increases the intensity of audiences sympathy and sadness for her. This is a extreme close up...
