This is a extreme long/slight ariel and high angle shot of Rochester New York State. The mise en scene presents an urban city landscape which presents the location of the documentary and implies that the prison is populated and big. The scenic view shows little colour apart from some greenery of the trees, this is because the frame is mainly of brown/beige plain and unsightly buildings. There is non- diegetic sound of police sirens and the buzz of traffic in the populated city. The police sirens show the audience the crime and trouble in this area linking back to this documentary about a serial killer. There is diegetic music which has a slow tempo, low pitch and repetitive beat which fades out as dialogue is introduced. The editing is quick and snappy as it cuts from different shots showing the variety of locations in New York. Requirements of lighting- When filming at school I need natural lighting, unless if it gets dark I will use the artificial main lighting. When shooting at Bedford prison, I need natural lighting that is cloudy and grey to match the cold dingy location. Clearance for shooting- Before filming in the school canteen, I will speak to the staff that work there asking if I can film in there? what 2 days if possible I am allowed?, if it is possible for them to keep the canteen open for an hour after school a couple of days in my shooting week? and what days the canteen will be free from all staff? Before filming at Bedford prison, I will ask the staff if I am allowed to film there. I do not need any power as the equipment I am using does not need power available. The problems I may face is if I am not allowed to film at Bedford prison because that is the most local and convenient prison I am near. These pictures are of my original interview location I was thinking of using, I have decided not to use this location as it didn't have the cold impression I wanted as it looks more like a school environment then a prison. In addition, it would of been difficult filming there because I would of had to film after school when it was dark so, as a result would of had to use the artificial lighting which I didn't want. I didn't want the canteen lighting because I wanted the shots to be in natural blue toned lighting rather than harsh warm toned. Also, it would of been quite difficult as there would have been a lot of noise and I needed it to be completely quiet for the full dramatic effect. 

Evaluation of my storyboard I presented many diverse shots such as, close up, extreme close up, long shots, panning shots, high shots, low shots. I think this was effective as it built up a tense atmosphere and made my documentary more authentic by using shots that many of my inspired documentary examples use. I contrast close up shots and long shots because it creates suspension for the audience seeing conflicting shots of the prisoner's zoomed in face to a shot of the mise en scene to a long shot of the prisoner sitting in a isolated room. I decided to use a variety of shots exposing the harsh location and environment because it presents to the audience the harsh realities of prison life. I show different angles especially when it is shots of the prisoner in the interview because it characterises the prisoner in different light e.g. conveying her as evil and dominant or as vulnerable and suffering.   After creating my storyboard I decided that I w...
